showing an ability to understand and share the feelings of another

Empathic Counselling Centre strives to provide you with exactly that, empathy. I am a big believer in the idea that effective change can best occur when we are honest with ourselves and are able to compassionately open up for self-reflection. My mission is to provide a safe environment where you can not only tap into your emotions, but use these as a driving force for change.

Compassionate · Empathic · Judgement-Free
Juliann Rasanayagam, M.A., R.P. has always had an interest in the helping profession. From her early experiences in working in hospitals, retirement homes, and local crisis hotlines, it was obvious to her that her heart and passion belongs to helping those in need.

She specializes in anger management and intimate partner violence. Her experiences in working with clientele who have been involved with the law piqued her interest in understanding complex emotions. Juliann has a unique interest in understanding anger from various viewpoints thereby creating treatment plans that are holistic in nature and can be applicable to all anger styles.

Empathy has always been the backbone to developing a strong connection with others. Juliann strives on using a kind, non-judgemental approach to understanding your needs, fears, regrets, guilt and grief.

Born and raised in Scarborough, Ontario, Juliann saw a need for mental health services in her community. In an effort to bridge this gap and to give back to the community that gave her the foundation to follow her dreams, she decided to open Empathic Counselling Centre right at home.

Juliann absolutely loves elephants, traveling, working out, and a good cup of coffee.
