Group Therapy Program

Tamil group therapy

Current Topic: Tamil Men’s Mental Health

June 20 2026; 3-5 PM

Suite 618-55 Town Centre Court, Scarborough

If you’ve spent most of your life being “the strong one”, this space is for you…

This in-person group therapy program is designed for Tamil men in the GTA who are ready to better understand themselves, their relationships, and the emotional patterns they’ve had to carry—often in silence. Through honest, in-the-moment conversations with others who share similar cultural pressures and expectations, participants gain insight into their behaviours, communication styles, and emotional responses.

Facilitated by a Tamil male Registered Psychotherapist, this is a safe, structured environment rooted in shared understanding and cultural connection.

Who This Is For

This group is designed for Tamil men who are ready to better understand themselves and how they relate to others. Group may be a strong fit if you’re having challenges with:

  • Romantic relationships

  • Cultural and family expectations tied to being a Tamil man

Sivani VETTIVEL

I believe this group is about understanding the deeper parts of who you are. Most of us have different versions of ourselves we show to others, but there’s often a core part we keep hidden. Over time, that can lead to a sense of isolation or emptiness that’s hard to explain.

In this group, we use our relationships with each other to better understand ourselves. The way you think, feel, and respond in the moment becomes a way to see patterns that are usually out of reach. This work isn’t easy — it can be uncomfortable — but that’s often where real change begins.

I’ll be asking everyone to be open and vulnerable, and I hold myself to that same standard. My role is to create a space where that kind of honesty is possible, while supporting and guiding the process.

Here is some vulnerability from me — I work full-time as a police officer, and on my days off I see clients as a therapist. I work a 7 days on, 7 days off schedule, and I rarely take breaks. I’m aware that this can sometimes be a flaw of mine. At the same time, there’s a part of me that is deeply committed to understanding people and helping them, and that’s something I take seriously.

When I’m in a therapeutic space, I bring that experience with empathy, patience, and a genuine effort to understand the person in front of me. A big part of my work is helping people get closer to the truth of who they are, even when that process is uncomfortable.

This may feel new, but I believe each person will leave with a deeper understanding of themselves — and something that can help you build stronger, more honest relationships with the people you care about, whether that’s your partner, your parents, your friends, or anyone important in your life.
